Harpy Eagle
Harpia Harpyja
DietHarpy Eagles are carnivorous birds that like to eat as much as they can chew. This would mean animals like monkeys, kinkajous, anteaters, porcupines, sloths, oppossums, reptiles and smaller birds could easily be struck down and eaten by the terrifying, fast-flying Harpy Eagle.
|
Threats and DangersHarpy Eagles are a threatened species because of habitat loss caused by deforestation to make room for human civilisation, cattle farming, etc and logging. Harpy Eagles are also being hunted as they are a potential threat to livestock and some believe they could be a danger to humans.
|
DefencesHarpy Eagles have large wings, but they're not as big as some other birds, and their somewhat small wings help them glide through the Amazon Rainforest without having to move around to dodge trees and things that might get in the way.
